Tijm Zomer
Tijm (Thymus) is een geslacht uit de lipbloemenfamilie (lamaiceae). Het omvat kruidachtige of houtachtige planten met een zeer aromatische geur, die tot 30 cm hoog kan worden en in schijnkransen bloeit. Echte zomertijm bloeit in de komende jaren meestal in mei en in juni met lila en roze en soms ook witte bloemen. Tijm heeft een verwarmende werking, is zeer aromatisch en ondersteund ook de vertering van voedsel. De blaadjes en takjes kunnen meegestoofd worden bij vleesgerechten en meegekookt bij zware groenten. Gedroogd behouft tijm ook z’n sterke aroma. Tijm wilt graaf een zonnige, droge en kalkrijke standplaats. Zomertijm is wel zeer vorstgevoelig, dus de plant moet eventueel afgedekt worden in de winter.
