De blaadjes van Stevia zijn caloriearm en worden gebruikt als een natuurlijke zoetmaker in uw thee, koffie en in diverse gerechten (evt. gepureerd). Prima o.a. voor de diabeet. Ca. 40x zoeter dan normale suiker. Zaaien binnenshuis onder glas, niet te diep en even licht aandrukken. Niet teveel water geven i.v.m. de lastige en onregelmatige kiemkracht. Zodra hanteerbaar verplanten in potten of bakken. Stevia kan slecht tegen lage nachttemperaturen, dus bij een temperatuur onder 10 ºC de planten binnenhalen.
