Een heerlijke aanvulling als gezond bRoodbeleg, in salades etc. en bevat veel vitamine C. Bij voorkeur zaaien onder glas i.v.m. Roodverkleuring van het blad. Op regels zaaien, niet te dik en niet uitdunnen. Het gewas groeit onder glas tamelijk snel, zodat al in oktober of november kan worden geoogst. De restplant groeit opnieuw uit zodat in het vroege voorjaar nogmaals een hoeveelheid blad kan worden gesneden. Vraagt een zware basisbemesting van de grond.
