Kan rauw in salades, gekookt als spinazie en als roerbakgroente gegeten worden. Zaaien onder glas of in de vollegrond. Kan goed tegen enige kou. Na opkomst uitdunnen op de aangegeven afstanden. Zorg voor een goede basisbemesting en geef regelmatig water. Geschikt voor alle grondsoorten. Oogsten als de plant 15 – 25 cm hoog is. Des te groter de plant, des te sterker de smaak. Giant Red misstaat ook niet in de siertuin.
