Aaltjes zijn meercellige diertjes (nematoden). Ze komen niet alleen voor in de bodem, maar ook in planten, dieren, water en zelfs mensen. Aantasting door aaltjes verzwakt de plant of doet die zelfs afsterven. Dit klein- en enkelbloemige afrikaantje bezit een werkzame stof, waarvan is in de praktijk is vastgesteld dat ze het grootst mogelijke effect heeft als aaltjesbestrijder en de grond goed kan ontsmetten.
