Vormt een lichtgroene sla met zware kroppen. De randen van de bladeren hebben vaak een rode tint. Roodkleuring van blad gaat vaak samen met boterzacht blad. Vooral geschikt voor vroege voorjaarsteelt en begin zomer. Kan onder glas (wel ventileren bij warm weer) en vanaf half maart ter plaatse worden gezaaid. Zaaisels in de zomer koel houden. Ruim uitdunnen en bij droog weer voldoende vochtig houden. Sla kan al bij zeer koele temperaturen (> 10°C) worden gezaaid.
